Anson community reaches milestone

By Eric Smith/For The Lebanon Reporter

Anson — Anson welcomed its first homeowners Wednesday — six years after the mixed-use community was first presented to Boone County officials. David and Christine Kilgour became the first buyers to take possession of a home built by Hansen and Horn.

“The single-family home component is an integral part of the overall concept behind the Anson community,” Anson General Manager Tom Dickey said. “While we have seen early success in Anson’s multi-family developments, having our first residents move into an Anson single-family neighborhood is an event we’ve been anxious to see happen.”

The Kilgours are one of seven families who will be moving into this development in the next three months.

“We liked the idea of living in an area where everything we need is close by,” Christine Kilgour said. “Anson’s location just off I-65 is ideal because we’ll be much closer to Indianapolis and our grown children, yet still be able to commute to our jobs in a reasonable amount of time.”

Anson, which is located in Whitestown, is situated nearly half-way between Christine Kilgour’s job in Attica and David Kilgour’s job in Westfield. The couple is moving to Boone County from Lafayette.

Several local officials were on hand for the event, including Susan Austin of the Whitestown Town Council, Boone County Economic Development Corporation Director Dax Norton and Boone County Highway Supervisor Tom Kouns.

Austin welcomed the Kilgours saying, “I like to think of us as a big family.”

Anson Assistant General Manager Craig Anderson said it was an important milestone to reach, especially in the current real estate climate.

“It’s important. We’ve had a vision that the residents would be there to support the retail,” Anderson said of the 1,700-acre mixed-use community being developed by Duke Realty. “We’re hoping it’s an avenue for an investment that should appreciate over time.”

Nice! I think those new H&H homes are gorgeous. Glad to hear things are moving along with the residential part of Anson!
